Highlander Homecoming 2017

Fireworks, family, friends and fun are just a few things at UCR Homecoming 2017

Scotty’s birthday on November 15 kicked off the Homecoming festivities with a wonderful Wednesday nooner at the Bell Tower. Surrounded by numerous clubs and organizations, guests and students lined up to receive their R’Day giveaways, including pizza and churros, and shared their school spirit in celebration of our mascot’s birthday.

Friday continued the fun during ASPB’s Bonfire. Fueled with anticipation for the weekend, students, families, and alumni near and far joined together at our CHASS Interdisciplinary lawn to enjoy food, fireworks, and free DJ performances, including Elephante. Our guests danced the night away, enjoying the warmth from the vibrant bonfire.

The next day was filled with excitement as multiple campus events took place. The Native American Student Programs office kicked off the day with 150 runners in the Spirit of the Tribes 5k Run/Walk. Following the trend of bringing families together, Undergraduate Admissions hosted their UCR Discover Day to showcase the campus’ research, accomplishments, and premier qualities to hundreds of guests and friends. Chancellor Wilcox welcomed UCR families at the parent meeting, inviting over 300 parents and family members to stay connected to UCR.

ScotFest took place later in the afternoon where over 2,500 guests enjoyed games for UCR prizes, caricature creations, a rock wall, and many inflatable slides and courses.  Alumni, families, and friends grabbed their new Homecoming shirts, and participated in the Highlander pep-rally to send off our Women’s Volleyball and Men’s Basketball teams to their games later that evening.

Thank you to all of our alumni, parents, and students who volunteered to make this amazing Homecoming possible. We hope you all join us for Homecoming next year on November 17, 2018.
