UCR Alumnus & Veteran Kirk Ferguson (1957 Biology)

The City of Riverside sat down and talked with UCR alumnus & former Navy Commander Kirk Ferguson (1957 Biology).

Kirk started his college career at UCR when the campus first opened in February 1954. He spent his working career as a surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy. After retiring from active duty as a commander, Kirk now serves as one of the west coast volunteer correspondents for the Navy Historical Foundation (NHF). At NHF, Kirk records information about Navy-related historical events occurring in Southern California, as well as oral histories of Navy veterans. The recordings specifically concentrate on World War II Navy veterans who participated in significant milestone events such as the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor and the Normandy invasion of Europe. Kirk sends the completed oral histories to NHF where they retain a copy for historical reference.
