This Week in Social

From an expedition to Africa for National Geographic to a funny story from our University Librarian check out what you may have missed this week.

2014 Outstanding Young Alumnus recipient, National Geographic Explorer, and all around superstar Shah Selbe is heading to Africa on an expedition. NatGeo shared what he has packed for the trip and you can follow his journey on twitter with #okavango14.

A twitter conversation, inspired by this NY Post article, turned up this great anecdote from UCR’s own University Librarian Steven Mandeville-Gamble.

Highlander Orientations have been welcoming new students into the Highlander family. It’s always so exciting to see the enthusiasm and pride of these alumni-to-be.

We’re excited to say that UC Riverside is included in the Princeton Review’s, “The Best 379 Colleges.”

UCR was praised widely by those students who participated in the survey. The introduction in the book reads: “Students at the University of California—Riverside are in love with many things—the ‘small class size’ and ‘beautiful campus’ come up often—but the educators here receive the lion’s share of the praise. Professors here are ‘very skilled in teaching’ and ‘have passion to teach and help their students.’” UCR Today.

Make sure to read UCR Today’s write up on our inclusion.
